Happy SysAdmin Day!

Posted by Katherine Creeden on Jul 31, 2015 8:00:00 AM

Find me on:

sysadminToday, July 31, marks the 16th annual SysAdmin Day! Judged one of the most important days of the year by some, SysAdmin Day celebrates the men and women who keep your show running. Is your computer on? Is your phone ringing? That’s all thanks to those lovely people we call the IT department.

These heroic people are the ones who keep your network secure, your WiFi working, and have the ability to recover data you thought had been sent to Narnia. These are also the same people you may get mad at when your computer temporarily shuts down or when the system needs a reboot. But hey, they’re just making improvements for you.

Still a little fuzzy on SysAdmin Day? Here’s a quick background on how it came to be… It all started in 2000 with system administrator Ted Kekatos. After seeing an ad in a Hewlett-Packard magazine of a system administrator getting flowers and fruit baskets for installing printers, and bam, he created a day out of it.

To celebrate, SysAdmin Day this year, we’re giving away a free t-shirt with any order today July 31st only! Simply add a t-shirt to your cart, and the cost will be taken out at checkout.

How are you going to show your appreciation? Some ice cream and cake could be a good start. Let us know in the comments below!
