When searching the job market, small businesses are the way to go. There’s always room for a little entrepreneurship. However,
Forbes states the fact that less than half of the small businesses that start today will be around five years from now. As a growing small business ourselves, we’ve come up with some tips to help you succeed in the
small business industry.
Tips
- Create a Business Plan
It doesn’t have to be elaborate, but at least have some kind of plan. State your customers, your products, your vendors, and costs. It can be as simple as that. Prioritize your time and resources. Figure out what needs to be done immediately and what can wait until a later date.
- Be Open to New Ideas
Don’t dive in head first with blinders on; have a plan and be open to new ideas. Take a chance and try them out, but if they don’t work, don’t be afraid to kick it to the curb. Allow your employees to be a part of the company- don’t take a top down approach. Collaborate!
- Funds
Make sure you have the funds before you create your business. Take time to have money set aside. This may delay your startup, but it’ll be better in the end. Since your business can take months or years before it generates a profit, you want to avoid debt at all costs.
- Marketing
Your business is nothing without its customers. Start with building a social media presence; LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter Google+. Try hosting a webinar or creating a mobile app or mobile website for your business (We have one!) Trade shows are another great way to get your face out there!
- Create a Brand and Stand Out
When creating a small business, you need to know what your brand is. You’ll have a logo and merchandise, but you also need to take into account actions. By taking that extra step in customer service, you’re creating an image for your company and setting yourself apart.
