The monkeys want to feature all consumer tech, not just wearables. In this edition we take a look at consumer technology aimed to help your dietary intake and improve your health.

Vessyl automatically tracks what you're drinking. By tracking your liquids, you will remember to stay hydrated and regulate your caffeine intake. This can lead to curbing your sugar intake, losing weight, and improving your sleep quality. On the accompanying app, you have the option to track certain "lenses" like calories, caffeine, and sugar. Vessyl is equipped with Pryme, which monitors your real-time hydration needs. The durable design is made up of a spill proof lid and a nonstick interior. The Vessyl only takes an hour to charge with a battery life of 5-7 days. Vessyl is expected to ship early 2015 at a retail price of $199.

HAPIfork is designed to make you eat slowly and lose weight. Eating too quickly leads to poor digestion and poor weight control, causing you to gain weight. This is where HAPIfork steps in to help. It is an electronic fork designed to monitor and track your eating habits. It lights up and sends gentle vibrations to let you know you're eating too fast. The fork will measure how long it took you to eat your meal, the amount of 'fork servings' per minute, and the intervals between 'fork servings.' You are advised to chew each bite 10-20 times. The light will turn green when it is okay with you to take another bite. You can then track all your dietary information on your online dashboard. It is powered by a lithium polymer battery and contains a micro USB connector. The fork head and handle are waterproof, but remember to remove the electronic key before putting your HAPIfork into the dishwasher. HAPIfork retails at $99.

Tellspec is a portable, hand held food scanner. It incorporates a near infrared spectrometer to beam a light into the food. The light reflects a sample that is collected to measure characteristics of the food. It can tell you the allergens, chemicals, nutrients, calories, and ingredients in your food. It is designed to contribute to the clean food revolution. The tellspec food sensor is expected to begin shipping summer 2015 at a price of $349 with a yearly analysis subscription of $69.99.
