Google vs Amazon

Written by Katherine Creeden | Oct 20, 2014 1:00:00 PM

Google and Amazon are part of a continuing battle against each other. While Google brings us the latest hi-tech inventions we never thought possible, like Google Glass and a driverless car, Amazon provides one of the best online storefronts to customers. Each company considers the opposite one of its biggest competitors but hey, even competitors can work together, right? A customer could start with a Google search for a specific product and end up at Amazon to purchase it. Exploring New Possibilities

While you associate Google with search and Amazon with shopping, each is dabbling in the others territory. Google recently introduced Google Express, which allows customers to shop without even leaving their search engine. Offering a cheaper price than Amazon, Google Express seems to be a tad bit more promising than the online shopping giant. And on the other side of things, Amazon is currently trying to dip their toes into the ad business. Both companies have expressed an interest in the growing drone business and are doing further research to utilize drones for product delivery.

A Step Further

Trying to extend their popularity, Amazon is rumored to be opening their first brick and mortar store in New York City soon. Just in time for the holidays, Amazon will also be opening pop-up shops in San Francisco and Sacramento. The “shops” will actually be kiosks featuring Amazon specific products such as kindles, fire phones, tablets, and TVs. The San Francisco kiosk will be opening this week on October 22.

Amazon recently expanded their Amazon Fresh service to the East Coast. The grocery delivery service began supplying the Park Slope neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York last week.
