This month, we look ahead to the wearable technology 2015 will be bringing us. Nymi: This little band seamlessly unlocks your devices and remembers your passwords using none other than your heartbeat. Nymi is equipped with patented HeartID, which confirms your unique heartbeat (ECG). Nymi is also equipped with encrypted hardware, an accelerometer, a gyroscope, and LEDs to notify you of battery life and other messages. Hidden inside the band is a circuit that will turn off if the band is cut or removed from your wrist. The band is currently being offered in red, white, or black- known as lava, frost, or carbon. You can reserve your band for $79 until December 31; shipping will begin in early 2015.
The Dash: These discrete headphones deliver you a crisp and clear sound with no cables. These bad boys can also track your movements- pace, steps, and distance, while also monitoring your heart and oxygen levels. Better yet, the headphones also triple as a Bluetooth headset equipped with an ear bone microphone. The wearer can click a button to allow ambient sound to pass through, if he or she so wishes. You can even make The Dash waterproof for swimming! Available in two different colors and three different sizes, these headphones retail at $299 and are expected to ship in April 2015.
BitBite: This little gadget helps you lose weight and improve eating habits by providing you with real-time coaching. By saying what you're eating out loud, BitBite begins documenting your own nutrition diary. It assesses the quality of chew and chewing rates and even learns your eating schedules and locations. All you have to do is download the app! The device can be worn in your ear, on a wristband, or even on a clip. Get the early bird price at $119! Regularly retailed at $159, BitBite is expected to ship in June 2015.
Honorable Mention
KipstR: As an honorable mention, we look at the latest invention by two 14 and 15 year olds, the KipstR. If you are currently a Virgin Media TiVo ® user, you have a chance to be part of their latest trial. The KipstR is designed to monitor your pulse using a pulse-oximeter to sense if you are awake or sleeping. If the bracelet senses the user is sleeping, it will mimic your remote control to pause, record, or resume a show.
