This summer, we looked into consumer technology for the home. This month, we’re looking at gadgets to make traveling easier for you. Whether you’re going on a business trip or vacation, you won’t want to pass on these devices. From charging devices to iPhone lenses to hotspots, the Monkeys have you covered.
Targus Travel Charger with USB Fast Charging Port
This little charger is equipped with both laptop and USB ports, allowing you to charge two devices at the same time. The Targus Laptop Charger with USB Fast Charging Port can power up to 90 watts with built in protection to keep your devices safe from unexpected surges. The charger comes with 7 connecting tips that support Acer, Asus, Compaq, Dell, Fujitsu, Gateway, HP, IBM, Lenovo, Panasonic, Sony, and Toshiba laptops. While there is not currently a connecting tip for Apple laptops, other Apple products can be charged via the USB port. Even better, the charger has interchangeable power cords, giving you the power to charge at the airport or on the road. This Targus charger retails at $99.99.
The olloclip active lens is “the perfect photo accessory for your next adventure.” Imagine you’re in an exotic location and you’ve just spotted a rare animal. You want to get a picture, but you only have your trusty iPhone 6/ 6 Plus with you. The Active Lens saves the day with its ultra-wide and telephoto lenses. The ultra-wide lens allows your phone to become an “action camera,” while the telephoto lens allows you to either get twice as close to the action or a narrower depth-of-field. Simply wear the lenses around your neck on one of the three included pendants, so you always have them with you. The lens works with both front and rear-facing cameras. The Active Lens retails at $99.99.
XCom Global International MiFi Hotspot
Traveling abroad and don’t want to worry about data and roaming? The XCom MiFI Hotspot offers global data coverage in over 175 countries. The hotspot is small but has a battery that can last up to four hours with nonstop use. If you turn off the device when you’re not actively using it, the battery can last up to a day. With fast WiFi, you are subject to unlimited data on multiple devices. XCom provides various payment packages for the international hotspot. It can be rented for $14.95/day for coverage in up to two countries, plus a $30 surcharge per additional country (if traveling to 3/more). Also offered is the Europe Travel Plan, which is $14.95/day for access in up to 40 countries with no surcharge.
