Find me on:

houdini-foodini-624x468A few months back we introduced the topic of 3D printers. Today, we’re introducing a 3D printer for food: the incredible Foodini. Natural Machines, headquartered in Barcelona, Spain, has taken it upon themselves to bring the latest to the food industry. Founder Lynette Kucsma says the biggest difference between the Foodini and other 3D printers is the multiple temperatures, consistencies, and textures it can create in food products. While microwaves offer a quick and easy way to make at home meals, they’re rarely healthy. Foodini promotes cooking with all fresh ingredients without the time and hassle of food prep. Foodini can print a range of foods from “sweet to savory”; some require additional cooking after printing, like raw hamburgers, while some are ready to eat straight from the Foodini. Another addition? Creating edible plate decorations is a piece of cake for this little machine.

To make a meal with the Foodini, you simply load the open capsules with the ingredients of your choosing- just make sure it’s the right texture. The Foodini can hold up to five of these capsules at a time. Depending on the meal you want to create, the printing can take any where from a few minutes up to 20 minutes. The recipe, size, and shape can all be selected from the printer’s touch screen. You can even work the Foodini from your smart phone.

Foodini is expected to ship to customers starting in October 2015, unless you want to throw down $2,000 to become part of the elite to receive it this coming January.
