After graduation in May 2016, Katherine plans to return to her native city of Houston. She is always up for adventure and enjoys discovering what both Houston and Austin have to offer. RAID, or redundant array of independent/inexpensive disks, was created to combine cheaper drives into a single, higher capacity drive. RAID was also designed to prevent fault, so that data on the drives would remain usable, even if the drive failed. As we all know, failures happen, so redundancy is important.

Google Goes Green

You know the Monkeys are suckers for anything green, that’s why we’re so happy to hear about Google’s latest enterprise. Google is replacing a former coal plant with a 350 acre renewable-energy powered server farm in Chattanooga, Alabama. Google data centers are known for using half the energy of a standard data center. The new green data center will be the 14th for Google.
