Megabytes, Gigabytes, terabytes. How much is a byte worth anyway? Well according to Dropbox one terabyte, which equals 1,000 gigabytes, is now worth the bargain bin price of $9.99.
This morning Dropbox announced that they slashed the price of its Pro service, which originally ran users $9.99 for just 100 gigabytes. Dropbox also previously offered plans of 200GB for $19.99 a month and 500GB for $49.99 a month. The price slash officially puts Dropbox competitors, which include Microsoft and Google, on notice that the cloud storage street war is far from over. Existing Dropbox Pro plan users will automatically receive their upgrade and those who subscribe to a higher tiered plan will get a reduction of their monthly bill or a pro-rated refund for their service.
Also included in the upgrade of storage, Dropbox Pro users are getting new features such as passwords for shared links, expirations for shared links, view-only and edit permissions for shared folders, and the ability to remotely wipe a machine or a device’s Dropbox.
