After almost 13 years, the end has finally come. Microsoft will end support for its Windows XP operating system effective today. XP has been Microsoft’s most successful operating system since its launch in 2001.

What does this mean for you? Well, a little or a whole lot if your computer is currently running on Windows XP. After today, changes won’t be immediately felt. Your computer will not stop running nor will you face the Blue Screen of Death when you turn on your computer. No features will be disabled and you won’t be forced to upgrade to a new OS.

The Z820 Workstation is HP’s shining star, built for high end computing and visualization. The latest addition to the Z series offers high quality, expandable design suitable for a wide variety of computing needs.

Many tout this workstation as a tough competitor to the Mac Pro, Apple’s high end workhorse. Some major features include Intel Xeon processors and support for up to 24 processing cores. With the latest in NVIDIA professional graphics and the capability to have up to 512GB of storage, many engineers, film makers and other creatives can work fluidly on projects that require a massive amount of space.

Overload. That would be my first word to describe the living, breathing, massive event known as SXSW Interactive. From March 7^th – 10^th, I was in a constant state of movement, running from one panel discussion to the next. Making sure I was early enough to score a seat (most panels filled up - cutthroat and unscrupulous tactics may have been used) to hear top industry pros fill me in on what’s new and on the forefront of technology.

The 21st annual SXSW (South by Southwest) Interactive Festival returns to Austin, TX this weekend. The festival inside of another festival showcases cutting-edge technologies and digital creativity. Tons of sessions covering various areas of technology and digital creativity makes this a must attend event for forward thinking IT connoisseurs. Some keynote speakers this year include best-selling author Austin Keon, MythBuster Adam Savage, and humanitarian Chelsea Clinton (you may have heard of her dad, Bill).

CAER Praises RERA Introduction

The Coalition for American Electronics Recycling (CAER) endorsed the swift passage of the Responsible Electronics Recycling Act (RERA), which was introduced to the House of Representatives on July 24^th. The bill, introduced by U.S. Representatives Gene Green (D-TX) and Mike Thompson (D-CA), has thus far received bipartisan support.
